PIRATE RAID LED
BY WOMEN.
BRITISH STEAMER
PLUNDERED.
HONGKONG. Monday, Nov. 20. The British steamer Sui-An, with a large number of European and Chinese passengers bound from Macao to Hongkong, was seized last night by a band of sixty-five pirates travelling as first and second-class passengers, under the leadership of Chinese 'women.
The pirates began their coup when the vessel was a few miles out of Macao by firing and infimida- tion. Officers and passengers were all huddled together into the maloons and cabins, where they were confined throughout the night with- out food or sleep.
ROBBED AND SHOT. They wore uli robbed of their valuables at the point of the revolver, and some who showed resistance were shot.
After robbing the passengers the pirates turned their attention to the safes, which they rifled of several hun- dred pounds-in friet, the vessel ransacked from stem to stern.
The officers and European passengera
were then compelled to steer the ship to Bina Bay, passing a few miles to the south of Hongkong with lights extin- guished at 6.30 this morning.
The pirates commandeered junks and sampans and escaped with their booty. The woman leader and three members of the ging were wounded,
